Findings and cases
What a finding shows, how cases are tracked, and the difference between potential and validated.
A finding is a gap between a contract and what was billed. Droplet turns each finding into a case, so someone owns it until it is resolved.
What a finding shows
- The customer and the period it covers.
- The issue, for example “Usage overage not invoiced” or “Renewal uplift missed”.
- The estimated exposure: a dollar amount, either monthly or one-off.
- The materiality, such as High or Medium.
Cases
Each case has an ID such as RA-014, an owner, an age and a status:
- Detected: Droplet has found the gap.
- Investigation: someone is tracing the cause.
- Validated: the leakage has been confirmed, by finance.
RA-014 Acme Corp, owned by Sarah K., in investigation; RA-021 Northstar Health, owned by James J., validated; RA-008 Atlas AI, owned by Sarah J., detected.
Potential exposure and validated leakage
Droplet keeps two totals apart. Potential exposure is everything found, including findings still pending validation. Validated leakage is what has been confirmed.
Potential exposure of $184,320 across 27 findings is pending validation. Validated leakage is $96,440 across 14 confirmed findings.
Trace a finding
Open a case to follow it from the contract to the payment. Droplet checks four steps in order, so the failing one is obvious: Contract, Usage, Billing and Payment.
